I always want to give credit where credit is due! If you see something here that is yours and it is uncredited, please let me know! Also, If you want your image removed, I can do that too, but hoping I don't have to, because if it's here, it's beautiful!
Happy Monday, all! Carly here from a simple affair. I was so excited when Ashley asked me to share my fall inspiration on her beautiful blog, especially since it's my favorite season. Why oh why does it have to be the shortest of them all?
I am currently dreaming of the days that I can be wrapped up in a cozy
cardigan or an oversized sweater sitting by the fire. Don't get me
wrong, while I love sitting next to a pool, the fall days and nights are
just perfection. I predict lots of leather accent pieces, metallics,
and booties in my near future. I am also seeing some burgundy and navy.
Yep, really enjoying those predictions.
...but not for real goodbye - just for 10 days! I am officially signing off of all means of life... and by that I mean, no email, no blogs, no pinterest, no instragram, no facebook, no twitter, and most definitely no work! That's right... 10 days of my boyfriend, my family and most importantly, my beach chair! :) So basically if anything really important happens in this world, you will need to hire a plane and fly over the beach in South Carolina to tell me! :) Good thing I found out yesterday that one of my dearest friends from collage got engaged to the love of her life and that my boyfriend got a job offer from his internship at GS for when he graduates business school this year! It was a happy, happy day... and a lot of celebrating to come!
Alejandro and I are taking a road trip down to South Carolina. My family has a place at the beach that I call my second home.... and I am lucky enough to see my mom and sister down there as well! Then we will be heading to Hilton Head for a few days to see Alejandro's brother and then capping off the trip with a wedding in Savannah, GA! I've never been there before, so I am super excited! Overall, just a relaxing vacation with some of my most favorite people!
I've gone a little crazy... a little crazy on the fall clothes this year! Probably because I didn't update my wardrobe too much last fall, so I feel like I have a lot of making up to do... or maybe because I am pretty much obsessed with all of the trends out there right now. One of my favorites being over-sized, boxy + chunky sweaters -- especially in creams and neutrals! Check out a few sweaters that I have already bought for fall... {here}, {here}, and {here}! After looking at the inspiration below, aren't you in the mood for some nubby sweaters? I might need to get a few more! :) oops.
I hope everyone is having a great weekend! My weekend started a little late after hours of flight delays in Boston! Fortunately, I was able to get to Newark before midnight on Friday and have an amazing boyfriend who drove all the way up there to pick me up! :) This weekend we celebrated our one year anniversary. Which is kind of crazy because I feel like we have been together forever! Over the summer, I made him a scrapbook of our first year together... well, I call it a "blogbook" because there are just as many words as there are photos! I used the program {blurb}, but would only recommend it to you if you want to completely own the customization of the book. For a quicker and easier way to showcase photos, I would recommend {shutterfly} books! I originally wanted to share the book that I made with all of you, but we decided this morning that we want to keep it for us (and our close friends and family)... but here is a quick snippet of what the 60+ page book looks like! PS. if you haven't read the story of how we met, click {here}.... it's still my favorite meeting story ever!
For more Sunday reading, here are a few links I love this week:
It's no secret that I absolutely love paper goods... and these items from {Tokketok} are no exception! Thank you {Camille Styles} for introducing me!
Did you see my {guest post} at A Creative Day? If not, check out some of my style inspiration for fall! I'm ready for cooler days, Mother Nature, is not!
The BEST new series has popped up on one of my most favorite blogs! Victoria from {vmac and cheese} nailed it with her {Man Behind the Blog} series! Not sure why it was so interesting to see a guy's perspective, maybe because I know my guy can 100% relate to all of his answers! :)
Thank you to {Grace} and instagram, I learned about a craft box that you can order (very similar to birchbox)... umm, signing up for {whimsybox} right now! Can't wait for my first craft night!
I have to admit... I haven't always been a huge gingham fan! I think this dates back to when I was a little girl and had these awful light blue gingham pants! A year ago, I would have said that small gingham checks were for guys only and I'd take a {buffalo plaid} instead! But recently, these small little checks are growing on me... but in a small way, like a tiny hint of them:
While Blair Eadie can pull off {gingham} and {gingham} and more {gingham}, I don't think I will ever own anything more than possibly a navy gingham button down from {J.Crew}... to be layered under something fabulous - like sequins or cashmere! :)
...the green is kind of cute too!!
PS. Blair's instagram post from Wednesday night! Did she know that {av} chose gingham as this week's {Friday's Fancies} theme?? ;) xxoo.
There is one thing that I am definitely not sick of yet... {leopard}! And I can prove that to you with a few of my recent purchases. This {sweater} in peach and cream leopard is among the few, but my favorite new item is my {leopard loafers}! Everyone is making them... and everyone is wearing them... but that's ok with me, I'm pretty sure they are the new "basic"! Get your pair today! :)
There are so many fabulous pairs out there... from Christian Louboutin to Target (wait, can those two words go in the same sentence?? ;) Check out some of my favorites from all price ranges.
I am secretly obsessed with an amazingly styled coffee table. I say 'secretly' because I don't want to admit that until I have a place big enough to have a non-function table... I won't be able to have one of these perfectly styled coffee tables myself. Currently, I have a few items styled on my coffee table{PB trunk}, but the second my boyfriend comes over, everything is moved... and replaced with feet and pizza boxes! :) Since I know that is not going to change anytime soon (and I am ok with that), I've been thinking about other ways I can display some of the fabulous books I own / are on my wishlist. Bedside table? Console table? Maybe even the bottom of my bar cart? We'll see... but here is some of my inspiration:
I love that the t-shirt is having a major fashion moment! I feel like there is nothing more simple and effortless than the tried-and-true basic... definitely makes getting ready in the morning that much quicker! Check out a few of my favorite tees that I have been wearing lately {here}, {here}, and {here}! And, for this week's {Friday's Fancies}, I have created 3 quick, but polished looks with only one {tee}. Which look is your favorite? I can't decided...
It is no secret that I am in love with "love"! And the images below make me so happy, even though they have nothing to do with me! I just love how you can feel the emotion and happiness through each of these photos! Oh, and my favorite thing about the roundup below... the man loving the woman! :) Makes me feel blessed that I have a wonderful guy who shows me how much he cares every single day - even from afar, on his busiest days! ♥ -xxoo.
Hello + Happy August! Seriously, August? How?! But I'll take it because it means that I only have one more week of traveling to NYC on the weekends and in just a couple weeks I will be heading on a very, very, very much needed vacation to the beach for 10 days!! :) Yes, while most summers are coming to an end, my summer is just beginning!! Since I haven't been around as much lately (these past couple of weeks were insanely busy), I thought I would share some items that I am currently loving. My favorite item on my "wishlist" are the J Brand skinnies that are coated with a sheen that looks like leather, but are really denim! Love. Need. Check out the rest of my favorites below...
Well... the day has come! The day that Facebook forced me to go from the old format to the new (ok, not so new) timeline version! I've been holding out on this change because I was never really a fan of their big update. I mean, the idea of a "timeline" is cool... but the page loads are ridiculously slow. Anyway, as soon as I realized that I was automatically converted to timeline, I started thinking about my cover photo! What in the world was I going to have as my cover photo?? Especially since I'm more of a square photo kind of girl (instagram lover) than a long horizontal rectangle! I started clicking through some of my friend's pages and instantly found a common theme - 1. a photo of their bridal party 2. a photo of their newborn baby and 3. a beach landscape of some sort. Well, two out of three of those were not even an option for me... so I knew I had to get to work in photoshop! And... here is what I came up with:
What do you think?? I love it!! :) And, since I love it so much, I want to share it with you! {Email me} if you are interested in having a custom cover photo for your personal Facebook account (sorry, no blog or company Facebook pages at this time)!
Hi Friends! Just wanted to pop in and say HI! It's been another crazy week and I can't believe it is already Thursday! And.. did anyone else realize that it is August in just a few days! I feel like this summer went as fast as it did back in 2nd grade! ;) Last night we had a little summer party at work - here are a few snapshots from the event!
