I'm super excited it is Oscar weekend! I don't usually watch award shows (except for the Red Carpet pre-parties), but I always watch the Oscars!! Remember my {Red Carpet Inspiration} from last year? I still love that dress... and that date I chose ;)! But... this year my inspiration is a little bit more golden! My favorite red carpet dress to date is and will most likely always be Michelle Williams' Vera Wang gown for the 2006 Oscars... and I love the mustard yellow I have seen on the runway - so I created a simple look - Oscar de la Renta silk tafetta gown with an amazing statement necklace! Red lips of course...

Come to think of it.... who wouldn't want to wear a golden oscar de la renta gown?! Seems just perfect for the occasion! ;) And just in case you missed the nominees....

Instagram: Reading Terminal Market

Happy Monday! This weekend we had last minute visitors in Philly - Alejandro's family! We love having visitors because it forces us to explore our city. This weekend we went to the Reading Terminal Market - a historic farmer's market that was oohhh, so yummy! I actually can't believe it was my first time there! We enjoyed exploring the different foods and the hustle and bustle of a multitude of diverse people! And... the award winning pulled pork sandwiches - well, they weren't for me, but everyone else loved them!!! :) Here are just a few of the photos from the maket (before my phone died)!

Instagram: V-Day Week!

Happy Monday! I'm super excited that it is Valentine's Day Week! I've always loved this holiday - probably because when I was little I was spoiled with the cutest little gifts from my ~~parents~~ mom (pretty sure dad had nothing to do with the red and pink gifts at breakfast)! :) Also, one of my favorite childhood memories was receiving a love package from my Mama on Valentine's Day! Her hand written notes on a red paper heart backed with a white lace doily would for sure be a hit on pinterest today!! I secretly wish I recreated those handmade valentine's notes for Alejandro, but instead, I had another idea: one month ago, I set up a Google email account called Alejandro, My Valentine and have been emailing him notes every day to that account! Tomorrow, I will give him the password and he will have a month of emails (short and sweet) waiting for him! :) *Don't worry, He doesn't know about my surprise - I told him he could not look at instagram or my blog until Tuesday... he was totally bummed ;) Ha!

Do you have any fun plans tomorrow evening? We have decided to stay in for the night and order Chinese food and watch movies - sounds like a pretty perfect Tuesday evening to me! :) Tomorrow morning I will be hosting a little Valentine's Day Giveaway on the blog! What a Year... ♥

One year ago (yesterday) I started my blog! I just re-read my {first post} and I think I've stuck with the goal of my blog pretty well... "a place for my photos and favorite things" ! :) When I first started blogging, I had no idea where it would go... all I know is that I have stuck to one main principle - to be myself and to write like it was only for me! I am overwhelmed by the amount of followers and daily comments and emails I receive from you all! I continue to be amazed by the blogging community and the many friendships I have formed with bloggers who appreciate the same things I do! It absolutely makes my day when I see a note from you or when someone links to me on twitter or facebook... and you all give me the inspiration to keep sharing with you! In August, I started sharing a little bit more about my life personally through instagram photos and weekend recaps - I learned quickly that I needed to make this personal connection with my readers, but was still cautious about how much I shared! However, I continue to receive emails weekly asking for more information about me, my boyfriend, my job... etc! I realized, just like many of the blogs I read daily, we have become a part of each others life... even if it is just for 2 minutes when browsing through google reader! ;) So... below, you will find a little bit more about me, the girl behind a {little} dash of ash! Hope you enjoy and thank you again for reading my blog! xxoo.

The Random Stuff:

My full name is Ashley Rebecca Gale. When I was born, a little girl told my grandma that I had 3 first names! :) I am 29 (as of yesterday) and I am completely ok with the fact that it is the last year of my 20's - I truly believe my 30's will be the best years of my life! My favorite color is green, which is also my eye color. When I was five I always doodled hearts - I would lock myself in my bedroom just to draw thousands of hearts on construction paper. I still doodle hearts. I am secretly a hopeless romantic (not so secretly anymore). My favorite cereal is lucky charms. If I won the lottery, I would buy a loft in NYC and decorate it with my inspirations on {pinterest} so I would always have a beautiful place to visit. My dream is to go to Paris (which will come true next year) and my favorite indulgence is a Wendy's Frosty.

How I got into Corporate Retail:

I get this question in my email more than any other one! I went to Indiana University and changed my major to Apparel Merchandising my Sophomore year after going to a career seminar and listening to the recruiter from Macy's West talk about corporate retail and how to become a buyer! I instantly knew that is what I wanted to do and literally stalked the recruiters at Macy's in San Francisco for an entire year before being offered an internship my junior year! I fell in love with the buying job and moved out West to start my career. I worked as a buyer in women's shoes (dream come true), men's sportswear and fragrance. Three years later, I moved back to Ohio to work for A&F. I switched over to merchandise planning at this time - which was similar to a buyer role at a department store, but with more of an emphasis on the financials of running a product category (which I love)! At A&F, I worked on many different product categories including: intimates, swim, sleep and accessories. After another three years, I moved to Philadelphia where I currently work for Free People - still in merchandise planning and still loving what I do after (almost) 7 years! :)

The Boyfriend:

My favorite email ever was from a reader 5 months ago. It said, "All of a sudden you just started talking about a guy named Alejandro on your blog - are you going to tell us how you met him?" I thought about this for awhile now and part of me didn't want to share too much info about him (us), but part of me wants to tell you the best story of my life! So.... a couple weeks after moving to Philadelphia (7 months ago), I was walking to get some food and as I crossed the street, I saw this guy and thought, "wow, he is really cute" - (but really, that is irrelevant because I would never stop a random guy and be like, "hey, you are cute, want to hang out" ;)!! As we passed each other, his ID fell out of his pocket. I tried turning around to tell him, but he was too quick and the light was turning green so I had to get out of the crosswalk. I didn't pick up the ID and went on my way to eat (since I was absolutely starving)!! After ordering my food and sitting down to eat... there was this crazy voice screaming at me to go get his ID from the crosswalk! So... I left the restaurant (and my food on the table), waited for traffic to stop, and got his ID. I ended up sending him a message on facebook and asked him if he wanted me to send it back to him... not really thinking I would ever see him again!! But, he messaged me back the next day and asked if I wanted to meet at Starbucks (he didn't know yet... but lattes are pretty much the way to my heart ;)!! The day that I ended up meeting him at Starbucks, I parked in 20 minute parking because I really thought I was just going to run in and hand him his ID... potentially get a coffee as well (all of which can be done in less than 20 minutes!) Nope... we ended up sitting down and having one of the best conversations I have ever had! I think we were there for over an hour and already had trips to London and Peru planned together! ;) He instantly became the most interesting person in the world and someone I knew I could have a lot of fun with.... So, I think I asked him out to dinner?! Or maybe he asked me? Can't remember... but either way - first date scheduled before we left Starbucks... which made the $93 parking ticket I received for staying past my 20 minutes a little more enjoyable! :) And... I still think he is the greatest guy I have ever met in my life! :)

Instagram: Birthday Edition

Happy Birthday to Me!!! One of my favorite holidays ever! :) Even if it is the last year of my 20's... I still love it! Sorry that I did not have the instagram link up ready to go at midnight last night - I had just got home from an ahhh-mazing weekend in NYC and my pillow won the battle over my desk chair ;) ! But... I am up now (literally, just got out of bed) and I'm ready to start my day (off from work) - right after I share a few photos from the weekend with you...

When we first arrived in NYC, Alejandro asked me where I wanted to have lunch just as we were passing Burgers and Cupcakes - I said, "I think I'll like this place"! And... I did! That night we went out and I finally got to wear my taxi mittens I got for Christmas! Remember when I was loving them {here} and {here}?! On Sunday we met up with {Kristin} for brunch and she gave me these cute vintage dishes I was loving at {Fishs Eddy}. I saw them at the store when I visited her in November... great memory lady! And, to top off a great trip, I finally got the {David Yurman} ring I have been lusting over for years... upon years! A special birthday gift to myself!

I had the best birthday weekend thanks to my wonderful boyfriend! Not only did he plan the trip, he was extra amazing when we spent the entire first day shopping in Soho! He also got me tickets to the play Chicago for my birthday (loved) and then took me to my most favorite {restaurant} in ~~the city~~ the world for dinner and drinks! Thank you! Thank you! I love you.

Hi lovely readers! I was thrilled when sweet Ashley asked me to come over to her lovely blog today! A {little} dash of ash has been one of my favorite blogs for a while now, and I'm so glad we are blogging friends :-) I'm Eileen from A Creative Day, where I ramble on about whatever strikes my fancy, but mainly interior design and fashion. I work for an interior designer now but my degree is in Architecture, so I'm totally a design nerd :-) I'm so excited to look forward to spring and can't wait for the warmer weather, but I love that winter is time to time to curl up with a good book and hot tea, cuddle by the fire with your honey, and enjoy time together warm inside. I've found myself drawn to deep moody spaces this winter, full of drama and warmth. Wouldn't any of these be the perfect spot to hibernate?

The Perfect Valentine

It is no secret that I absolutely love cards, stationary and all (super cute) paper products! I have saved every card I have ever received and Paper Source is hands down my favorite store ever. Oh, and I am that girl who saves everything from all of the wedding I have attended - down to personalized cocktail napkins (unused of course ;) My mom is very aware that when I get married one day my "paper" (aka invites, programs, etc) budget will far exceed any other category (ha)! So... when I came across these little gems at {sugar paper} - there was no hiding my giddiness! Love.

Happy Monday!!! I finally have some instagrams to share with you because this week was a pretty fun week for me! First... {Free People} opened a store on Walnut Street in Philadelphia... I got a sneak peak of the store at the grand opening party on Thursday night and it's such a beautiful store - I am super excited to have one in walking distance now! Second... Alejandro finished up the 4 months of ibanking recruiting with multiple job offers! Can't wait to see where he will decide to go... oh, my soon to be 'investment banker boyfriend' - ahh, I love that! ;) And... third, one of my bff's cames to visit me in Philly... all the way from Wisconsin! Had such a great time with you Zona! :)

Not only did we visit some of the famous historical landmarks in philadelphia, but we ate, ate, drank and ate some more! I know I instagram food a lot... but I can't help it when it looks this pretty! Below... is just one of the fabulous brunches we had this weekend:

And... on Saturday night we went out for Spanish tapas at my favorite, favorite restaurant in Philadelphia, {Amada}! It was restaurant week... and with a group of 4 of us, we were able to try (almost) everything on the menu! Oh, and their sangria = ahhh-mazing!!!!! :) It's kind of trouble that I live right next door to such a yummy place!

Happy Monday Friends! I hope you all had a great weekend! First, I want to start this post by saying that I did not order the juice cleanse on Rue La La! I thought I should share this since I received many personal emails from my readers! Thank you to all of my nutritionist readers for being concerned with my health, but don't worry, I wasn't trying to promote the juice diet or use it as a means to lose a lot of weight! :) I was just simply posting about a trend I have seen on many different websites... just as I do about fashion, home decor... and yummy accessories (which I am now going to stick to :) So, that being said, here is a little arm candy inspiration:

It was another low key weekend for me in Philadelphia! Since it snowed for the first time this winter (which I was not very excited about), I stayed indoors for the majority of the weekend! I had a few dates with my iPad and Netflix! Has anyone seen the movie {Sliding Doors}? It's from 1998 with Gwyneth Paltrow, but this was the first time I've seen it and absolutely loved the parallel stories! I also helped my man pick out outfits for his big week of interviews! And by pick out outfits... I mean ties, since the navy and gray suits are pretty standard! Investment Banking recruiting is the longest (4 months), craziest/intense/competitive (think sorority rush + bachelor rose ceremony... "man style") process I have ever seen and we will both be thrilled when the last step is over on Friday! Lots of good wishes and prayers will be appreciated this week! GOOD LUCK, BABY (even though I know you won't see this since you will only be reading the Wall Street Journal and Market Watch this week)! xxoo.

If you haven't noticed... juice fasting is quickly replacing dieting! I think everyone I know is thinking about some sort of juice diet - including myself (only because Rue La La is having a major deal on a local 3 day cleanse)! So... I need your opinions!! Have you tried a juice cleanse? Do you know someone who has? Does it taste as miserable as I can only imagine?! I love fruits and veggies but I'm not sure I could really drink them... unless it's in a smoothie with vanilla yogurt and cinnamon! ;) I have a feeling it is not going to be that yummy...

LA vs. NY {Style}

Before I even started working at {Free People}, I would look forward to receiving their catalog in the mail! Without being biased, I truly believe FP has one of the most creative and fun catalogs to flip through monthly! It is exciting to be so close to all of that creativity on a daily basis and to see the creative director's ideas transform into a catalog! ...with all of that being said, the January catalog that dropped last week is by far my favorite Free People catalog to date! Half of the catalog is styled towards LA fashion and the other half is styled towards NY fashion! Having lived on both the West and the East Coasts, I could relate and thought the stylists/photographers did an amazing job showing the different looks! Of course... I relate more towards the second half of the catalog (NY) since that is more my style, but check out some of my favorite pages from both coasts!

Happy Monday! Hope you all had a great weekend! I had a lazy weekend that was very unproductive until Sunday afternoon when I went into major 'spring cleaning' mode! My apartment is officially spic and span from top to bottom... all of my laundry is complete... and my life is organized! Feels wonderful! But with a low key weekend like that comes very few instagrams... so I thought I would share with you what was inside my January Birchbox. If you haven't heard yet - {birchbox} is a monthly selection of 4-5 beauty samples based on a profile that you fill out. It comes all wrapped up in a fun box (see photo below) with a card explaining what each sample is and how to use it. I signed up for this $10 a month subscription because I thought it would be fun to get a surprise in the mail each month - but, I actually enjoyed a few of the products in my box this month - especially the nail polish! :) You should check it out for yourself... {here}. I ♥ colored jeans! I know this is not the first time I have talked about fun colored pants - I was obsessing over {red jeans} back in February, crazy about {jewel tone denim} in April, and dying over {green jeans} in July. Well, my color crush continues as I pretty much want every color of the rainbow... specifically coral and aqua colored jeans! :) Confused on how you can make your colored jeans into an everyday basic? Check out all of the different ways you can wear them! Obsessed with each and every one of these looks... especially the fourth look (and the dog)!

Lucky for me, {Free People} sells a lot of colored denim! But here is a tiny secret - {Target} just came out with colored skinnies and I bought the Royal Blue ones... they actually fit amazingly! I can't believe I just put that secret out there ;) So... what colors are you going to wear this Spring?!

Happy Monday! I apologize that I have been a little MIA from the blog world lately! I was taking full advantage of my boy being off school for the past couple of weeks and spent all of my evenings with him last week! I was definitely spoiled a little... especially with all of the cooking we did! Here are just a few of the quick, yummy meals we cooked up...

This weekend it was 64 degrees... in January! Crazy!! So, we headed to the Jersey Shore for a day at the beach! Loved just walking around the boardwalk and the beach... but the best part of the trip - Manco and Manco's pizza, of course! Ahhh-mazing (just like everyone said)!

I found the most amazing iPad app EVER! Let me introduce you to iFontMaker! I am almost positive that there is nothing cooler than turning your actual handwriting into a digital font that you can use on your blog or self-designed stationary... or well, anything! That is exactly what iFontMaker enables you to do! You simply draw each letter with your finger (or a stylus) until you have an entire alphabet made up of your own handwriting. Then, the app converts it to a digital .ttf file so that you can import it into your FontBook on your computer! Pretty magical!!! :)

AND... if you don't have an iPad or you don't feel like going through the process of making your own fonts, you can browse and download hundreds of other people's fonts {here}! Some of them are amazing... I kind of wonder where they find the time to be so fancy!! ;) ENJOY!

I can't believe it is already 2012! I feel like I was just celebrating the beginning of 2011 yesterday! The year started off perfectly for me yesterday.... woke up late, broke my new years resolution with waffles (and ice cream) and stayed in PJs with my man until 5pm! Like I said.... perfect! :) But... I took a little time to put this post together and got a chance to remember all of the fun times in 2011! Some major highlights... Mexico with my girlfriends, St. Patty's / Bachelorette Party in Chicago, my Sister's Wedding, Warrior Dash, Traveling to London, Moving to Philly and Meeting Alejandro! It's the Friday before Christmas and I am home at my parent house in Kentucky! It is not white outside in this part of the country... but I can dream that I will wake up on Christmas morning and there will be snow on the ground! Too bad we aren't in Cleveland anymore, you could almost guarantee a white Christmas there, every year! But... even with the temps in the high 40's, I couldn't help but join in on {av}'s Friday's Fancies fun and create my own white Christmas inspiration... except when I was browsing for inspiration, it kind of turned into a white and green post... For Christmas, my mom and her siblings put together an amazing scrapbook of beach photos dating back to the 60's for my Grandma! (Shoot... My blog is not a sports blog... nor do I plan to blog about sports much going forward - but I am just STILL so excited about the big win my alma mater pulled this past Saturday! Not only is it a huge deal that IU just beat the #1 ranked team in college basketball, but they also beat Kentucky - a school rival as well as a personal rival since all of my family members bleed blue! ESPN wrote about how the students reacted after the last 3 seconds of the game perfectly... and the videos are a must watch, they will make you wish you were back in college instantly! Personally, I love the videos so much because in 2001 I was in the middle of the madness just like the many students in these videos... and the excitement and loyalty at IU during basketball season (especially a good season) is something you can never describe to anyone!

The holidays still bring me as much excitement as they did when I was a child. I love the twinkling lights, the newness of winter weather, the parties, the gathering of loved ones near and far and just the overall magic of the holiday season! Although it has been years since I've written a letter to Santa, I think my letter this year would go something like this...

These cashmere lined gloves are the perfect combination of warmth and luxe, and I love the punchy color! I'm still lusting over this Chloe bag, but I think this J. Crew satchel is a beautiful, classic and much more affordable option. I am in desperate need of a new wallet and I think this one by Rebecca Minkoff is perfect. How cute is the big tassel on the back, Santa?! Utterly obsessed and 100% in love with this Lauren Elan necklace. Now that winter is here, it is time to upgrade my Lulu wunder under crops to the full pant. As a Texas girl turned recent Chicagoan, my winter wardrobe is sub par. Adding these ear muffs, this turtleneck and these shearling lined duck boots would be a great addition to my winter wear. I've been wishing for a pair of Current Elliot boyfriend jeans for a while and I think the darker wash of the roller version is pretty great. I would love a fun new band for my watch. Everything you need for a winter weekend spent inside: faux fur throw, comfy striped leggings, cozy moccasin slippers and the complete series of Friends. And a few wishlist items: black taffeta skirt, the perfect black pumps and a major camera upgrade!

Hello friends of a {Little} Dash of Ash, it's Rachel here from Little Bits of Lovely. I'm thrilled that Ash asked me to participate in the 12 Days of Christmas series and to be sharing my wish list with you!

Christmas is my favourite holiday of the year as it means I get to spend time with my family and eat way too much delicious food. My mother, being the amazing cook and organiser that she is, spends weeks planning the meal and then the days leading up to Christmas preparing the feast. Christmas is a very different affair than my friends in the northern hemisphere would be used to - it is generally extremely hot and sticky and the trick is to try and keep as cool as you can - whether that be taking a dip in the pool or downing plenty of refreshments.

I also love to watch Elf as many times as possible since it is the best christmas movie EVER. I just moved to New York City this past August and it has been amazing to be here during Christmas time! I have not yet been to Rock center to see the tree, but am planning to make it over there one of these days. I hope your Christmas season (and Christmas shopping) is off to a fabulous start! Here are some things I'm hoping Santa leaves under my tree this season...

1. Madewell Lace up Clog Booties These seem like perfect everyday shoes since the heel is not too high and they are super cute.

2. Michael Kors Watch I know these have made the rounds on the blogosphere, but I am still quite obsessed with these chunky gold watches. They are perfect for stacking and make great arm candy.

My years of long distance helped me learn to navigate the holidays since I'm often far from my side of the family. {cv} is one of twelve grandkids, so Christmas Eve is quite the affair. While I was home for Thanksgiving, I was able to take photos of my cousins brand new little boy - Jack, Jack! He is so little and precious and very photogenic! So happy that I convinced my cousin to buy the little bear hat - it suits him perfectly! We also attempted some super cute santa hat photos with twinkle lights - the photography looks great, but the poor little man is pouring is eyes out! We are going to try again at Christmas - maybe he will be a little happier after Santa comes!!

Happy Monday! I had the best past two weekends and a lot of instgrams to update you on... but first a quick little recap. Last weekend I went to NYC to play in the big apple with {Kristin} and to attend {av}'s blogger blitz! Such a fun getaway! It was so nice to meet some of the bloggers who I follow daily and meet new faces as well! Everyone is so creative in their own way and I love being a part of this blogger community! Here are just a few photos from the event! How fun are the name tags and directories that Alison made?!! PS. If you are attending the Blogger Blitz in DC... I will be there too! Can't wait :)

On top of NYC... I have had some great dates with my boy! Last weekend before I headed to the city we had brunch at this French Bistro that overlooks the park in Rittenhouse square! It was a perfect fall day... so I was able to take this perfect instagram!

This past weekend we went to Princeton on Saturday! The university is by far the prettiest school I have ever seen! It was the perfect fall day and I was able to capture a few photos of the campus (which really do no justice what-so-ever)!

PS. Hoagie Haven is the best sandwich place - ever! Alejandro had been talking this place up for weeks... so I had high expectations to begin with - and it did not disappoint! Oh... and can't forget about my favorite photo from the day! ;) Perfectly... fall!

Let's see... what else?! Oh... I went to the Urban Outfitter's sample sale! It was a huge warehouse full of apparel and home goods from Anthropologie, Urban Outfitters and Free People! Sounds like a dream, huh? It was actually more of an overwhelming nightmare! I had never seen so many people and things and became completely overwhelmed digging through boxes, that I actually only left with a few things (but a few really good things)! Next time though... I won't be a rookie and will remember to bring a suitcase, boxes, and potentially a u-haul! ;)

And... last but not least - a new baby was born into the family this past week! Blog World, meet Jack. Jack, meet the Blog World! :) I can't wait to hold this little man on Thursday and take his newborn photos on Friday! Happy Monday! :) Usually I give a quick recap of my weekend on Mondays, but I am going to do that later on in the week since my weekend is still (kind of) going on (blogging from the bus back to Philly from an amazing time in NYC)!! But... I had to share some photos that might be shocking to a few people who know me well! Last week I decided I had to stop eating out every meal (I was spending like $25 a day on food) and make my lunch daily! I've made statements like that before (many times)... but this was the first time I actually did it - all 5 days... I swear! To be honest, I enjoyed it so much, I have no intention on stopping! Not only am I eating so much better, I'd rather save that money for shoes or vacations anyway - so definitely a win, win situation!! Here are some instagrams for proof of a successful lunch packing week...

So yummy! In the mornings I was eating either yogurt parfaits with greek yogurt, granola and blueberries, {smoothies}, or steel cut oats! For lunches I made a variety of different salads and wraps and made these delicious baked cajun chick peas that curbed my salt craving! I was even making soups and pastas that were light and healthy for dinner! So proud of myself! I thought the first day I was going to go through sugar and pizza withdrawals... but nope, not once ~ even though they are so much prettier to instagram... so had to include photos from my files! ;)

Hi! Sorry I have been kind of MIA since last Wednesday - it was a crazy week that left me absolutely exhausted in the evenings! But, I was able to relax and have fun this weekend! On Friday, I went to this amazing, modern Israeli Restaurant with Alejandro and all of his best friends from college. The food was insanely delicious... and so unique and photo worthy - however, I didn't snap any instagrams because... well, it was the first time I was meeting most of the people and I didn't want to scream, "hey, I'm a crazy blogger" on the first night! So... Alejandro promised me he would take me back just for my blog photos (he's the best)!! Have I mentioned yet that Philly has ahhhh-mazing food?! It's NYC quality, but you can always get a reservation!!

On Saturday, we tailgated for the UPenn vs Princeton game (since Alejandro has now gone to both of those schools)! At first this was kind of funny to me... coming from Ohio where the buckeyes really know how to tailgate (and usually know how to play football)! But... I love day drinking so I had to give it a try! Verdict = a Princeton football game is nothing like a big ten game, but the tailgate was actually really fun and a great turnout... and all of his Princeton friends are awesome!! :)

On Sunday, I was so excited to get an extra hour in the morning! Love being lazy on Sundays before the crazy work week starts back up again! Below are just a couple of my favorite things I love to do on Sunday mornings... (oh, and even though I loved the extra hour this morning, I did not like when it was practically dark out at 4:30pm!)

DIY: {Shellac Nails}

The first time I got shellac polish on my fingers (for my sister's wedding) I fell in love! It was the most amazing manicure of my life... and it lasted for weeks! The second time I got shellac... I was ripping it off of my fingers two days later because my nails hurt so bad! Not sure what the little nail lady did when she took off my first shellac polish... but whatever she did left my nails damaged and so thin that they hurt all day long! So after that... I think it is safe to say, I was not a fan!! However, today my friend {Casey} blogged about DIY shellac and talked about how this does not ruin your nails! So, of course, I immediately emailed her for the details and in one quick email back she convinced me that I need to try this myself!

Happy Halloween!! :) Even though halloween was much more fun as a child... I still secretly kind of love the holiday! Usually I celebrate for a couple nights (in costume of course)... but this year was a little more low key! I did dress up last Thursday night for a party... as a pirate! But on Friday I decided to stay in for the night with my boy, some mummy dogs (see below) and scary movies (much warmer choice)! However, Saturday night we braved the cold (and snow/rain) and went out for pizzas and beers... as we pub hopped, we got to costume watch! Most popular costumes in Philly... for sure Waldo, Pee Wee Herman, Mario (and friends), and Willy Wonka! Hope your Halloween weekend was fun as well!!

Hi Friends! Happy Friday!! Just in case you missed my guest post over at {Bijou and Boheme} this week, I thought I would share with you my 7 style staples! My 7 styles are all interchangeable between fashion and decor and tend to be on the classic side with a few pops of surprises! Hope you enjoy and have a fabulous weekend!!! xxoo.

Stripes - This simple pattern is a staple in my wardrobe and home decor! Stripes are so classic, they just seem to fit so naturally - and they work off all kinds of other patterns - especially florals (another favorite pattern of mine)! Oh, and if you didn't notice, I'm a sucker for black and white stripes!

Cozy - with fall already in full swing and winter slowly approaching, cozy is a must have in my life! From an oversized sweater, to thick wool socks, and an intimate spot in your home with a lot of pillows and texture - there is nothing like being warm in cozy during the colder weather!

Navy - A classic color that can pop any outfit or room! I love the simplicity of navy and how it never looks as harsh as black! This simple color can 'ground' anything and works with every color imaginable!! I don't know what it is... but I always have to have it if it is cute and navy!

Lace - Pure perfection! I love the lace trend out there right now and the girl-y detail it adds to any outfit! My absolute favorite love right now... lace shorts :)

Jewels - Jewelry is the perfect accessory to any outfit! I never leave home without something around my wrist and a some sort of statement ring(s)!

Details - It's all about the details with me - always! From little accents in my home decor to the perfect adornment on a present! I say it best with small, unique details.

A Touch of Girl - I have a few different styles... but no matter what I always add a hint of girl! :) It's usually the final touch...

Hi Blog Friends! I didn't have time last night to put together a post because I was prepping for a big meeting at work today... however, I wanted to say thank you so much for reading my blog daily! And... to my new followers (20+ just this week)... I hope you enjoy reading my blog!! You guys put a huge smile on my face yesterday when I saw that my blog was viewed over 3,500 times in one day! That is definitely the most in one day for a {little} dash of ash!! So again...

And, on a completely random note - I laughed out loud when I saw this... because I seriously thought I was the only one!! I feel completely naked if I don't have a rubber band around my wrist [at all times] - even if my hair is in a ponytail! :) Happy Thursday!

I've been a really good girl this year and since I learned to cook... I think I shall receive my very own custom kitchen aid mixer courtesy of {Un Amore Custom Designs}. I've only been talking about a pretty kitchen aid mixer for 5 years (even blogged about this {beauty} back in february) and you told me that once I learned to cook you would allow me to add it to my list... well, the day has come! :) I know you reached out to me via email just yesterday telling me that my Christmas wish list is getting pretty pricey.... but don't forget, I don't have a brand new husband or a dog (that is treated like a grandchild) that you need to buy for this year ;) Just kidding. But seriously... how cool are these?

She left the floor open for me to pick whatever I'd like to discuss. After much contemplation, I've decided to throw out a plan & just see where it goes.

If I had to pick one word to describe this historic city, it would be "charming." If you've visited (or live here!), then you're probably familiar with the cobblestone streets, horse drawn carriages, small shops, the skyline full of church steeples, beautiful water views, award-winning restaurants ...okay, I could go on all day! I went to the College of Charleston & stuck around after graduation to work for the Medical University of South Carolina Children's Hospital. We plan fundraisers & get to see our efforts thrive -so amazing!

My heart belongs to this guy.

He was my first boyfriend.

Found him when I was in 8th grade.

Actually, he told me I had nice legs when I was in sixth grade. Needless to say, this little modest girl would have nothing to do with him after that comment until a couple years later. Guess he got me with his "charm" again. We've dated ever since!

Okay... time to quit the chit-chat. Let's cut to the chase.

Today, I'm going to talk about some of my favorite fashion/beauty items for fall.

I know there has been buzz all over different blogs about fall fashion and it can get a bit repetitive.Still...I have to share because these are the items that absolutely get my engine revving!

#1. faux fur.

Honestly, I never got into the fur trend last year. I tried to find a faux fur vest, but it was just not working. This year is a different story.
I've been lucky enough to find a faux fur vest & a jacket at Saks Off Fifth --both amaze!

I love the way these ladies have styled their faux fur pieces.

#2. a red lip.

A red lip is something else that I never loved until the past year or so. This year, I'm gaga over it!
I just purchased L'Oreal Refined Ruby & I must say, it's perfect!

Talk about a lip color that doesn't budge & is the perfect not-too-blue/not-too-orange shade.

#3. baubles.
Bring on the accessories! Chunky rings, chunky bracelets, chunky necklaces, heck-
I want everything to be chunky except for my thighs!
(and well, my waist & hips & arms -you get the picture).

#4. ~~yellow~~ mustard yellow.

#5. cat eye sunnies.
I'm absolutely obsessed.

I purchased these Prada cay eye shades a bit over a month ago...

I haven't reached for any other pairs but these!

This style is absolutely back for fall 2011.
I have a feeling that they will be sticking around for a while, too.

#6. bright colors.

Hi Friends! I hope you had a great weekend. I had a pretty low key two days that was mostly spent missing my family and friends back in the midwest... But, that doesn't mean I didn't enjoy the amazing company I had on Saturday night when Alejandro and I went out for mexican food and margaritas!! Oh, and by margaritas, I mean BYO-Tequila and just order a yummy mix (we chose blood-orange)!

Sorry Amanda, I know that the only approved Tequila in your book is Patron... but I'm on a ~~budget~~ (I'd rather spend money on clothes)! And... the unsalted glass is Alejandro's - he'll learn quickly to love salt (I give it a year and a half ;)

Oh... and I know this post is supposed to be about instagrams... but I am kind of obsessed with another iPhone feature right now too - Siri! I don't have her yet... decided not to get the 4s and wait until the iPhone 5 comes out next summer, however, I may or may not be addicted to the blog {sh*t that siri says}! I'm sure this blog will be short lived... but it's kind of funny for now! My favorite so far.... is the one below.... so true, and LOVE that Siri is a beatles fan!! ;) xxoo.

Style in Seven: {Bijou and Boheme}

Happy Sunday! Today I want to introduce you to one of my favorite bloggers - Christine from {Bijou and Boheme}!! Christine has a great series on her blog called "Style in Seven" where different bloggers describe their style in 7 adjectives... and make pretty inspiration boards to go along with them! Hi Dashers...it's Christine here from Bijou and Boheme and I'm quite excited to be visiting with my Style in 7. It was Ashely's brilliant idea to do a little blog switcheroo today, so make sure you pop over and read her amazing post on my blog...tres fantastique! As for mine, I hope you enjoy. It's basically a picture party of the 7 things I feel best represent my aesthetic...if I had been allowed a few more choices, I would have thrown in wallpaper and whimsy into the mix but alas, thanks to my own rules, I had to just focus on 7. So here you go...take all of these things, wrap them up with a bow and you pretty much have a room a la B&B...

1. Pink

There's not much to elaborate on here. I simply ADORE pink...I love how it's feminine but has a distinct air of strength to it. Daring in its girliness.
Pretty and punchy...perfection in a colour if you ask me.

2. Art

If I was a bazillionaire, I would spend all my riches on artwork.

To me, nothing is more compelling/beautiful than a great piece of art...and as such, no room is complete without well adored walls....and PS, that means no mass produced canvas prints, thank you very much. My taste runs a pretty wide gamut...I adore fashion illustration and modern abstracts but also find antique portraits and landscapes rather enchanting.

3. French

There's something about the interplay of history and femininity that I love about the French aesthetic. It's just so darn pretty. I love when a little French is mixed with some more modern touches so that the girliness of it all isn't too overpowering.Truth be told though, an antique bergere will always win over an Eames chair with this girl.

4. Gold

Rich and lux, I just heart gold....and brass...and bronze...anything with this decadent hue. To me, gold is the most glamourous and feminine of metals so it's undoubtedly my favourite. I'm of the mind that pretty much everything looks better with a touch of glitzy gold beside it.

5. Leopard

Roar. Leopard rocks...simple as that.

It's the grande dam of animal prints and looks good with every thing. Leopard performs as a dynamic neutral and makes any space/ensemble infinitely more glamourous. I will never ever tire of it...as evidence by the fact that I have approx. 7 cushions, 2 coats, a handful of scarves, 2 blouses, 1 dress, 1 pair of boots and a car seat in this print...yes...I'm a bit of a leopardaholic but I make no apologies for it...my love for this print runs deep.

6. Glamour

What's not to love about this one?

I'm not sure why anyone would want to be/dress/decorate in anything less...a little girly sparkle/shimmer/crystal/metal/feathered/encrusted/gilded pretty is 100% essential to happiness... I'm convinced of it.

7. Fur

Last by certainly not least, there's fur. This one goes along with #6...glamour always wins for me and you can't have that without a little

furry goodness.I'm of the mind that most rooms could benefit from a fur throw or pillow (or 5)...same goes for a closet. And PS, vintage or faux is best.
