Thoughts on... Liquid Lunch?!

If you haven't noticed... juice fasting is quickly replacing dieting!  I think everyone I know is thinking about some sort of juice diet - including myself (only because Rue La La is having a major deal on a local 3 day cleanse)!  So... I need your opinions!!  Have you tried a juice cleanse? Do you know someone who has?  Does it taste as miserable as I can only imagine?!  I love fruits and veggies but I'm not sure I could really drink them... unless it's in a smoothie with vanilla yogurt and cinnamon! ;) I have a feeling it is not going to be that yummy...

This is the cleanse I am thinking about:

{The Catalyst Cleanse}
Here are some other popular cleanses I have seen pop up on blogs, twitter and facebook statuses:

{Blue Print Cleanse}
{Can Can Cleanse}
{Cooler Cleanse}
{The Juice Press}
{Living Greens}
{Organic Avenue}
{Red Carpet Cleanses}

And for those craving a DIY method (half the cost).... check out this {DIY Juice Cleanse}!
Whoa, definitely not that motivated! :)

Dear Ash,

ok, so number one I'm a pretty new follower, and number two we don't really know each other, so I'm offering my thoughts but I understand if mine isn't the opinion you want. I'm wrapping up a degree in biochem with a specialization in nutrition, and the very best thing I could tell you is please don't do a juice fast. You will be paying for expensive pee (sorry) and hurting your body. If you want, send me a message with what your goals are from the fast and I could totally help you design a week or however long of really yummy, easy, and nutritious foods that would do the same thing - promise! xo Alyssa

I definitely couldn'd do an actual juice fast, I'm not that hardcore! But maybe it would be a good idea to replace one unhealthy meal with one of these, that would help me get in more fruits and veggies at least. I might want those Organic Avenue ones just for the cute bottles!

I've wanted to try one but just know I dont have the will power. Maybe the DIY one is the way to go for me. If I can do that, maybe I'll justify paying an arm and a leg. I feel like everyone I've talked to does the blue bottle cleanse. Let me know how it goes!

I did Blueprint and I loved it. I think your expectations while doing a juice cleanse need to be managed. If you're (and not you, I'm speaking in generalities) looking for an easy way to lose weight, this isn't for you. If you're looking for a way to cleanse your system and get back to being healthy, then yes.

juice cleanses scare me. if you are looking for a great cleanse with actual food try the bon appetit food lover's cleanse. last year i lost 3 pounds doing it and gained a bunch of energy. they have a new one out for this year as well.

I've heard great things about the BluePrint cleanse, but I don't think they're for me. But best of luck if you take one on!

Never tried one but I think they'd be good as a meal replacement if you were in a hurry! I wish you could order just one to try rather than committing to the full skit. They can be pricey.

Oh my! There are so many juice cleanses to try! I want to try one. I've heard so much about them but know so little about them. Do they make you lost weight? Can you still go to the gym when you do them? I love the idea!

i do the Blue Print Cleanse - i LOVE IT -- it's an acquired taste that you grow to enjoy - just DO NOT do on a weekend - u'll miss out on all the goodies - but Blue Print is the best of the best - PROMISE - pricey but you end with having so much energy and you don't get hungry - DO Blue Print!

A few weeks ago, we had a groupon deal for a juice cleanse from a local vendor and i went ahead and purchased it. It probably isn't going to taste that great, but I think it'll be the perfect way to set myself straight after March Madness!

Good Luck is thats what you decide to do!

i've been looking into them recently too because they're everywhere, but i'm skeptical about long term benefits. idk if i can go without eating!

I have been wanting to try one... but hesitant because I've read such conflicting information. Just reading the comments above was interesting!

Not to be the barer of bad news, but I do not recommended juice cleanses. I'm minoring in Nutrition, and this last semester we just went over various diets that are out there, such as juice diets. By doing this kind of diet, you won't be getting the adequate amount of calories your body needs, and once you stop the juice diet, you will unfortunately gain the weight back. Just the way it works. You also could be lacking in a lot of nutrients and vitamins that your body needs. The best is to eat healthy, limit portion size, and exercise. That's what I suggest. If you have any questions, email me :)

I would love to do a juice cleanse but not sure how well it would work out for me since I have low blood sugar.
Maybe I should do a soup and juice diet..haha

I recently finish a 15 day juicing fast after being inspired by the film Fat, Sick and Nearly Dead in hopes of helping my acid reflux. {it helped! :)} I did my own juicing instead of a pre-made fast. Buying so much produce definitely can put a dent in your wallet and it totally takes a lot of will power, but once I was a few days in I started feeling amazing. Unlike a lot of people, I LOVE the green juice (I make sure mine has apple in it). It is nice to back to eating normally again. I will incorporated juicing into my diet. The fast was SO worth it!
